The short answer is because we live here. There are no resonable options, there is no Verizon POP that supports DSL and no Cable companies have expressed any interest in the area. Satellite and dial-up are just not options for people who want to be able to do business or really communicate online anymore.

Project Overview

We are a group of people who are building a high-speed fixed-wireless community network. Not only because of the lack of any broadband options available to us, but to provide a community approach to bandwidth and internet access. A network "for the people, by the people", completely community setup and maintained. This project is just getting off the ground and will be starting in the Upper Valley area, situated on the boarder of New Hampshire and Vermont. The first roll-out is expected to be in Grafton, NH in Grafton County.

Our Goal

To provide "last mile" broadband network connectivity to areas that do not have other options in the foreseeable future. We hope to extend a high-speed public network through communities that have been left off the map by cable and DSL providers because it's not profitable.

Want to Get Involved?

As the project matures, there will be more ways to become involved. Everyone so far is donating equipment, land and services to get started as quickly as possible. Please register, and start getting involved by introducing yourself in the forum. Eventually we will be setting up a map that will allow us to determine who is able to get on the public network, now or after scheduled network expansions. We are especially interested in hearing from you if you have land on a hill or mountain with line of site to a high number of homes.
